May 21, 2009 - Since returning in March, I have been asked about training for teenager/youth over here. Besides the Love Bulgaria event there seems to be a big hunger for information on the training and equipping of students for service to Christ.
I spoke at an event one Saturday for teens in a town call German – where students from many area churches attended. They lead music, did skits and prayed. I shared about living for God as a young person. There was about 100 students present.
Recently on a Sunday went
to a church in Iktimon, where many teenagers have been coming to Christ. I spoke at the church service in the
morning and then had a time for the teens in the afternoon with about 50 teens
showing up wanting to learn more about God.
We are working on some quarterly trainings with the students at this church.
Our English Club for teens is doing well and we are having more boys attend than girls and that good here in BG.
And one last note – earlier the week our translator was on line with me as well as with Mitko (a teenager here who was saved last year as a result of Love Bulgaria – our second known conversion). Mitko was telling her he wanted to be like me – when we asked him “what do you mean?” – He said “A teaching Pastor just like you.” Then he asked if I could teach him how to do it. WOW – I speak little Bulgarian and he speaks little English but God is working to raise up leaders to reach Bulgaria and that is what we have come to do.
So it seems that the years as youth pastor are being used here too! Pray as we explore the options of just how to get the right training to the BG Teens in a timely way! Pray for the right relationships with other leaders to develop so that we can expand the training. Pray that we would know how to proceed.
I have an unspoken request about the Love Bulgaria Conference – Please pray asking God to work out ALL the arrangements and details. It is weighing heavy on us right now.
Also, our Mortgage Company has responded asking for a couple more documents that we are getting together – so things are moving – Praise God and keep praying!
